The Nigerian Air Force said it has destroyed Boko Haram's vehicle workshops, fuel and ammunition dumps within the Sambisa forest.

According to the Director, Air Force Public Relations and Information, Commodore Dele Alonge, the Force's alpha jets were used in carrying the strikes.

He said the air strikes would give way for the final assault by the land forces to rid the region of terrorists and to meet the December deadline President Muhammadu Buhari gave the military to end insurgency in the north-east.

Alonge added that the strikes resulted from a painstaking Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) efforts by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and ATR-42 platforms.
