Ex-gov reportedly received N4.6bn from Dasuki for “spiritual purposes”

The report said Bafarawa is still being questioned to elaborate on what he means by “spiritual purposes”.

As the ongoing probe of the $2.1 billion arms purchase fraud, primarily involving former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki, heats up, a former governor of  Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa has reportedly admitted to collecting N4.6bn from the ex-NSA.

According to SaharaReporters, who cited a source at the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the ex-governor said the funds he received was meant for “spiritual purposes” .

The report saidBafarawa is still being questioned to elaborate on what he means by “spiritual purposes”.

It was gathered that the EFCC has also linked the former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili to the scandal. He was said to have collected N100 million from Dasuki, as well as ex-convict, Chief Bode George.

The N200 million allegedly received by the two PDP chieftains was said to have been meant to secure the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last general elections.

According to the EFCC source, those currently in detention over the scandal include; Attahiru Bafarawa, Bashir Yuguda, Shuaibu Salisu, Abba MT Usman, Sagir Attahiru, Evegny Kundaev, Aminu Baba Kusa and Salisu Usman Garu.

Raymond Dokpesi, AIT founder was also arrested but was released last night after meeting bail conditions.
