Aso Rock security deny former presidential aide entry

He was denied access to the Presidential Villa despite being recognised by the security guards.

According to the spokesperson to former president, late Umaru Musa Yar'adua, President Muhammadu Buhari's aide, Garba Shehu, had invited him to a book presentation at the Villa on Thursday, November 16, 2017, but he had misplaced his card.

The current chairman of ThisDay newspaper editorial board noted that even though he was recognised as a former Villa employee, one security personnel insisted he couldn't gain entrance to the event.

He disclosed the incident on his Twitter account after the episode.

He tweeted, "Garba Shehu invited me for book launch at Villa. Misplaced IV. Got to villa, recognised by security men but one insisted I couldn’t go on. Real Shame. Going back."

A similar episode had unfolded in October when security personnel at the Villa turned back principal officers of the National Assembly after refusing to be subjected to a biometric  screening.

President Buhari's book presentation

The book  'Making Steady, Sustainable Progress for Nigeria's Peace and Prosperity', was presented by President Buhari to the public at the old Banquet Hall of the State House on Thursday.

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was the keynote speaker at the occasion, with Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo also in attendance.

Others in attendance are the APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, some state governors and other top government officials and traditional rulers.
