Aregbesola called on Buhari to set up an panel of inquiry to investigate how 400,000 barrels of crude oil was stolen from Nigeria without being noticed, during Jonathan's administration.

Aregbesola said this on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at a meeting with members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).

The Osun state Governor called on Buhari to set up an panel of inquiry to investigate how 400,000 barrels of crude oil was stolen from Nigeria without being noticed, during Jonathan's administration.

Aregbesola said ”In the middle of 2013 a party at the helms of affairs of our country told us that four hundred thousand barrels of crude oil were stolen on a regular basis for 24 months, we never heard that it stopped for that period.

“What we have lost is N5.8 trillion to an unprotected crude oil theft in 24 months. We can imagine how many roads, schools and quality of electricity we could get‎ from such amount.

“I am not underestimating your demands but you still need to add to your demand requesting how the country lost 400,000 barrels of crude oil everyday.”

The Governor also said “Aside from corruption, what is actually affecting the country is low productivity, as we are condemning corruption, we should also charge ourselves to be productive. We should be able to earn our living as a people.”

Aregbesola also promised to help the group deliver their activities to Mr. President when he comes back from China.
