Lagos governor dines with kids at State House

The governor, who noted that the party was the first he would be holding in office, said that the children were the future of the state.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Saturday said that he was passionate about the future of children in the state.

Ambode spoke at the 2015 Children End of the Year Party organised by his wife, Bolanle Ambode, at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

"We are very passionate about what happens to children in Lagos. Children are our tomorrow.

"Next year’s party will be bigger than this. We will ensure provision of sporting and recreational facilities in all the nooks and crannies of Lagos State because these children are the future of Lagos State," he said.

The governor urged parents to be concerned about the future of their children and commended those that brought their kids to grace the party.

Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs Ambode urged children to love one another irrespective of their background and religious beliefs.

"Today is the children party; all the children need to share in the joy and happiness of this season.

"I want all children to love each other. I want you all to be obedient to your parents," she said.

The governor’s wife urged parents to promote unity among children for the progress of the nation.

She asked the children to be studious and prayed for them to excel in all areas of life.

One of the children, Azeez Olusakin, said, "it is very good, we will like the governor to continue."

Another child, Opeifa Feranmi, of Divine Blessed Nursery School, also commended the governor and urged him to continue with the trend.

One of the parents, Mr Aniebiet Umo, a para-military officer said, "It is a good thing that the governor decided to gather the children to wine and dine with him.

"It shows the kind of person he is, he is a father indeed."
