They were said to be using private residences and the Defence House at Maitama Districk, Abuja; which was meant to be Buhari’s official residence as the President-elect.
It was learnt that the President’s wife relocated to the Villa on Thursday, June 18.
“Hajia (Buhari) arrived here (Presidential Villa) with her entourage at about 6pm on Thursday. She had relocated ahead of her husband. She passed the night here,” the official reported.
Buhari had travelled to Kaduna on Tuesday shortly after he returned from South Africa, where he attended the African Union summit – then from Kaduna proceeded to his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the ongoing renovation work at the Presidential Villa stalled his moving in.
“As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in,” he said.
