The management of Agbara Estate in Ogun State has issued a statement on the robbery incidentwhich occurred in the area today, November 19, 2015.
Estate issues official statement on attack
The operation is said to have lasted about two hours while the attackers reportedly robbed about five banks.
According to the statement, two people, both policemen stationed at Zenith bank, died in the incident.
The statement reads:
“At about 7am on the morning of November 19, 2015, there was an organised armed robbery on Agbara Estate, the first to its kind in the Estate's 37-year history.”
“The target of the attack was Zenith Bank on Bank Road, where the vault and various ATMs were looted. There are two fatalities reported (two police guards at the bank).”
“Agbara Estates is carrying out an immediate review of its security operations and is collaborating with the local authorities and police force to prevent any such incident happening again on the Estate.”
Several other people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in the attack.
