Adeyinka Adebayo Former Western Region Governor dies at 89

He became governor after the death of Adekunle Fajuyi in the 1966 coup d'état and stayed in the position till April 1971.

Former Western Region Governor, Adeyinka Adebayo is dead.

Adebayo died in his sleep on Wednesday, March 8, according to family sources who spoke to Sahara Reporters.

He became governor after the death of Adekunle Fajuyi in the 1966 coup d'état and stayed in the position till April 1971.

His eldest son, Otunba Niyi Adebayo was the governor of Ekiti State from 1999 to 2003.

He is survived by three other sons, Adesola Adebayo, a former Commissioner for Works and Transport in Ekiti, Adedayo Adebayo, a rugby player, and Leke Adebayo, an actor, writer and producer.
