2016 Hajj Kebbi loses 2 pilgrims in Mecca

Kebbi State have confirmed the death of two of its pilgrims in Saudi Arabia just as other pilgrims begin plans to return home.

Two pilgrims from Kebbi State have been reported dead in Mecca, Saudi Arabia as Nigerian pilgrims return home after the completion of the 2016 Holy Pilgrimage.

A report by Leadership Newspaper revealed that the death of the pilgrims was confirmed by Alhaji Aliyu Jajirma Kanya, the state's publicity secretary on 2016 Hajj.

The two deceased pilgrims, according to Kanya, were fromĀ  Maiyama and Augie local government areas of the state.

It was also confirmed that the two deceased have been buried in Saudi Arabia according to Islamic rites while wife of Kebbi State governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, is currently in Mecca to condole with their families.

The first lady also described the death of the two pilgrims from the state in Mecca as a favour and happiness to their families, praying Allah to forgive them of their sins.

The news of the pilgrims' death is coming as NAHCON begins airlift of Nigerian pilgrims back home from Saudi Arabia.
