One person has been reported dead following a clash between police and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to eyewitness reports, the security operatives seized caps, flags and T-shirts of IPOB members, who were waiting for their leader.

Reports say the Biafra supporters, who were angered by the action of the security men, tried to retaliate, causing the operatives to shoot at them.

According to Vanguard, there was heavy presence of a combined team of Army, Navy and Police personnel, following reports that IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was slated to visit Ekwulobia.

Speaking to newsmen, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs. Nkeiru Nwode denied reports of the death.

Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to cause violence if Nnamdi Kanu is arrested.
