Houses in Kangemi slum

Pope Francis is calling on the government to provide proper housing units for it's people.

During a visit to the Kangemi slum on Nairobi's northwestern edge, he said “dignified living conditions”, amongst other things, were basic human rights.

He also spoke against the "injustice of urban exclusion" and unfair distribution of land.

"These are wounds inflicted by minorities who cling to power and wealth, who selfishly squander while a growing majority is forced to flee to abandoned, filthy and run-down peripheries.
