The British Government has indicated an interest in preparing the manpower needed ahead of the Calabar garment factory inauguration in Cross-River State.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arkwright, stated this while inspecting the ongoing work at the project site.
Arkwright praised the effort of the Cross-River State governor, Prof. Ben Ayade in initiating the project.
He expressed his willingness to bring in expatriates from the United Kingdom to come in to Nigeria to train the workers.
His country offers great expertise when it comes to garment making, and will be quite interested in improving the capacity of the manpower of the factory ahead of it inauguration.
In his response, the governor said, “The partnership with the UK is a strong partnership and we are hopeful that with commitment to training and guaranteed technical competence, Nigeria can maximise its potential in the garment sub-sector of the economy.”
The involvement of the UK in the project is going to go a long in growing the garment making skills of the state.
