'Complete abandoned buildings or face demolition', director of Development Control warns

The Development Control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is threatening to destroy 665 uncompleted buildings.

Abandoned building

According to the acting director, Hamza Madaki Tayed, these abandoned buildings are a threat to the security of other residents.

“The owners of such structure are doing a disservice to the FCT. You start a building and you abandon it halfway. You don’t even care who is occupying it so, this is a very serious security issue and threat to FCTA.

We will not allow undesirable elements to occupy such buildings because they can use it as a hideout for criminal activities”.

So far, the FCTA has registered 665 of abandoned buildings currently in Abuja.
