"Passengers have the right and the responsibility to speak to any driver who is speeding"

The Bauchi command of Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) is reminding passengers of their rights.

According to the Public Enlightenment Officer of the Bauchi Sector Command, Malam Rilwanu Sulaiman, passengers have the right to reprimand and report any driver that is speeding, drunk or high.

"Passengers have the right and the responsibility to speak to any driver who is speeding because by paying their transport fares, they are in a contract with the driver to take them to their destinations."

He also said that passengers should know that they are withing their rights to drop and ask for a full refund if they notice that the driver is drunk, high or speeding.

Malam Sulaiman went on to remind drivers that the official speed limit in the country is 100 kilometres per hour as speeding leads to road crashes.

Drivers were also asked to be aware of other road users, especially animals and the mentally-disturbed people.

Do you agree that passengers have rights too?
