Victims of Road Traffic Crash

The Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC), Kogi Chapter, has revealed the number of accident-related deaths from Sept. 1 to Nov. 15.

While reviewing plans for the ‘’ember months’’ operation, FRSC State Sector Commander, Mr Ogochukwu Ugboma said that 45 persons have lost their lives in 61 road crashes from Sept. 1 to Nov. 15th, adding that 208 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in these crashes.

Although 675 persons were involved in these accidents, he was still unhappy because there is an increase of accident-related deaths this year.

The records show that 24 deaths and 186 sustained injuries were recorded within the same period in 2014.

He blamed this on over speeding on the improved Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road, disregarding traffic regulations and lack of proper maintenance of many of the vehicles plying roads in the state.

Mr Ugboma went on to reveal a 5 step plan to stop the number of accident-related deaths during the ‘’ember months’’.
