Italian doctor’s condition worsens

An Italian doctor who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone has taken a turn for the worse, the hospital treating him has said.

The 50-year-old doctor was transported to the Lazzaro SpallanzaniHospital in Rome after coming down with the disease while working for charity organization, Emergency.

The hospital stated that the patient’s temperature is above 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit) and that he has started a third “experimental treatment.”

The Ebola outbreak has now claimed 6,928 lives even as the World Health Organization warns that the cases in Sierra Leone are on the increase.

Sierra Leone has lost 7 doctors to Ebola and an eighth has tested positive to the disease.
