Rolls Royce is set to smile all the way to the bank as the car and aero-engine manufacturing company has received a record-breaking £6bn engine order from Dubai carrier airline, Emirates.

BBC reports that the order which will see Rolls Royce supply engines for 50 Emirates A380 planes is Roll Royce's largest order to date.

This will be the first time the engineering giant has made engines for the Gulf carrier's super-jumbo fleet. No new jobs will however be created as a result of this deal, while final assembly of the engines will take place in Singapore.

Emirates said the deal gave further support to trade ties between the UK and the United Arab Emirates and would have a "significant economic impact". This is according to Emirates president, Sir Tim Clark.
