'Avoid reckless driving during Sallah celebrations', FRSC boss advises

Avoid all forms of reckless driving

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, made this appeal.

Addressing the media at the special intervention patrol and road audit exercises, the FRSC boss urged motorists to maintain safe roads by obeying all traffic rules, during the Sallah celebrations.

“As you travel during this Sallah celebration, remember that only the living celebrates. Remember that road traffic crashes don’t just happen; they are caused and can be prevented. Therefore guide against them and live to celebrate,” he admonished.

Oyeyemi also revealed the FRSC's plans to maintain traffic-free roads during the Sallah.

“Further to our sustained efforts towards ensuring sanity on the highways during this year’s Eid-el- Fitri celebrations, the Corps has concluded plans for massive deployment of its personnel comprising regular and special marshals, patrol vehicles, Ambulances, motor bikes and 10 tow trucks along designated routes and Eid praying grounds as part of measures to ensure free flow of traffic and sanity on the nation’s highways during the celebration,” he stated.

The FRSC has deployed 31,000 officials to highways, across the nation, for the Sallah.
