FG bans importation of rice through land borders
The Nigerian Customs Service has placed a ban on rice importation through land borders, which will effect from Friday, March 25, 2016.
Temitope Ogunkua, the Nigerian Customs Area Command for Oyo and Osun state stated that this new development set to identify loopholes in the Nations finance sector.
Ogunkua further advised Nigerians follow this directive to avoid the NCS seizing the rice goods.
He added that the Oyo/Osun Area Command would implement the zero tolerance for rice import through the border.
Ogunkua assured importers that this development only affects ‘economic saboteurs’ and will not affect their businesses.
In a related news, Paul Angya, Acting Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria, during an interactive chat with Brands’ Equity warned against buying and usage of low quality or expired tyres.
Angya stated that quite a number of road accidents is caused by low quality or expired tyres.
