On Tuesday, 11th August, 2015, Pulse Nigeria reported that Ford has announced plans to assemble the Ranger pickup in Nigeria starting in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Also, that Ford will be partnering with Nigeria's own Coscharis Motors Limited, which is a Ford dealer group, for this deal.

On Sunday, Mr. Luqman Mamudu, Director, Policy and Planning, NAC, commended this partnership between Coscharis and Ford, one of the world’s leading automobile companies saying, “I know Ford would have come directly on their own but for  the fear of policy somersault by government," adding that with the partnership gave them security and certainty in their investment.

He also disclosed that 36 world class automakers had shown keen interest in setting up plants in the country, according to Vanguard.

“We are quite happy that Ford is joining others to set up plant in Nigeria through partnership with Coscharis Motors, a reputable Nigerian car marketing company and we are confident that the government would continue to give support to the policy to enable Nigeria reap the full benefit as an automobile manufacturing country."

Moving forward, he hopes for Ford to move quickly to complete knockdown, CKD, category in Nigeria and for the production of the Ford Explorer next year, and another model at their Awoyaya, Lekki, Lagos plant which is under construction.

“We are confident that Coscharis will ensure that they move to CKD level with time which is what the Council is looking forward to."
