Media reports confirm that Econet Zimbabwe has partnered with MTN Zambia to offer cross-border remittances. This means that an MTN Zambia customer will be able to transfer money from their MTN Mobile Money wallet to the EcoCash wallet of an Econet subscriber.

According to Innovation Village, the partnership officially launched last week at the Meikles Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe.

To make use of the services being offered from the partnership, all an MTN Zambia subscriber will have to do is send money via a money transfer with a USSD short code and select an EcoCash Zimbabwe mobile number.
According to an Innovation Village report, someone in Zambia will send money by registering with MTN Zambia and then initiate a money transfer request via a USSD mobile money short code, then select an EcoCash (ZW) mobile number.
