State government destroys illegal building
The state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has passed an order that illegal structures be demolished in Lagos.
The LASBCA’s General Manager, Mr. Sola Adeigbe, revealed that this particular building was illegally constructed, as no permit was obtained from the agency before commencement of work on the site, adding that it was built on a road setback.
He urged Lagosians not to begin constructions without obtaining permit from the agency, as the these type of illegal buildings will be demolished without compensation for the owner because "in the first place, it was not supposed to be there “.
The owner of the illegal building, who spoke under anonymity to Vanguard, claimed ignorance as her excuse explaining that she was not aware that she was supposed to have gotten a permit from the agency before commencing development.
She also revealed that it was her late husband who bought the land from the ‘’Omonile’’ about six years ago.
