The residents of Amuzu community, Ebonyi State, are protesting over the government's plan to take their land.

Nigeriarealestatehub reports that the protesters, made up of the youth, aged men and women, are upset because the government has taken their lands in the past without any compensation.

“How could government wake up one day and start measuring our land with the intention of taking it from us without our consent.”

Reports say these villagers confronted and booed the chairman of the local government, Joseph Egede, before proceeding to the traditional ruler's palace, where they tied the palm fronds as a “warning signal”.

The state government intends to use the land, in contention, for mechanized farming, which is aimed at improving the state's revenue.
