5 important things Buhari told Christine Lagarde

He further said that his administration aim is to enforce discipline, accountability of all allocations and in all revenue generating agencies of the Federal government.

President Muhammadu Buhari stated during his meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 that his administration is keen on enforcing regulation so as to stop financial leakages and also to adopt global ideas and practises in generating revenue from other resources other than oil.

Below are the 5 important things Buhari said;

1. On Accountability

“We have also told all heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government that on our watch, they will fully account for all funds that get into their coffers.”

2. On budget and identifying economic downturns

"We have just come out of budget discussions after many weeks of taking into consideration the many needs of the country and the downturn in the economy with falling oil prices and the negative economic forecasts."

3. On surviving economic downturn

“We are working very hard and with the budget as our way forward; we will do our best to ensure that our country survives the current economic downturn."

4. On cutting down expenses

Buhari said the Federal Government is reviewing its operational cost and prioritise its overhead expenses.

5. On welcoming foreign support

President Buhari said that the Federal Government is welcoming all technical support and expertise from IMF for its plans to diversify the Nigerian economy and enhance growth.
