Mrs Ibukun Awosika takes over following the retirement of previous Chairman, Prince Ajibola Afonja.
Mrs Ibukun Awosika was, on Monday, September 7, 2015, appointed at the Chairman of First Bank Nigeria.
She takes over following the retirement of previous Chairman, Prince Ajibola Afonja.
Here are three reasons why her appointment is epic:
She is the first woman to occupy the position since the establishment of First Bank of Nigeria in 1894.
She is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ), an organization created to increase the proportion of women in senior positions in corporate organizations and as such is a perfect example of women breaking the norm.
She is a philanthropist who has helped several entrepreneurs launch their businesses. One of her protégés is make-up guru, Tara Durotoye whom she helped secure a loan of N500, 000 to finance her company, House of Tara.
