Anambra sector urges road users to obey all traffic rules during Easter
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra Command, has promised to ensure a traffic-free Easter.
According to the FRSC Unit Commander, Mr Paulinus Akpotobo, this is the only way the agency can ensure a traffic-free Easter.
Speaking at a sensitisation campaign on Safety, he pointed out the major traffic offences committed by commercial motorists and motorcycle operators.
These include overloading, speeding and driving against traffic.
"One very conspicuous traffic offence is overloading. People come in from far and near to buy goods in Onitsha and the drivers tend to overload such goods in their vehicles,’ Akpotobo said.
The Unit Commander urged the Federal and state government to construct pedestrian bridges, adding that it would reduce accidents.
"Consistently drivers knocked down many people, who attempted to cross the expressways because there were no bridges for them to cross.”
