Heal brings a doc to your doorstep within one hour

Heal, a doctor on demand service founded by Dr. Renee Dua, has just began operating in San Francisco after being launched in Los Angeles late last year where with just a call, you get a doctor to your doorstep in an hour.

Doctors on Demand

The Los Angeles based startup founded by nephrologist, Dr. Renee Dua and her husband Nick Desai, offers a unique and inexpensive alternative to modern health care. The process is simple, all you have to do is download the iOS Heal app and input your personal details and credit card info into the app.

Once your info is loaded, you can request a doctor wherever you are, whenever you need one and the doctor is guaranteed to be on your doorstep within the hour.

Not only will Heal doctors diagnose basic illness like colds and flu, but they also write prescriptions for medication and lab work all for a flat rate of $99. Even though Heal doesn’t accept health insurance, in most cases, Dua says that patients will end up paying less than they would to visit a doctor who accepts insurance.

The business model is especially interesting for countries that lack a dense network of hospitals and clinics while not having the funds to invest in infrastructure.

Despite competitors like Pager and Medicast, Dua remains hopeful that Heal will be a success with it’s recent $3.7 million seed money funding from the likes of Lionel Richie, Paul Jacobs and L.A. Dodgers co-owner, Jamie McCourt.
