Arese Ugwu and Tunji Andrews talking Dollar scarcity on NdaniTV show AnalyzeThis

On the first episode of the new personal finance show on Ndani TV called Analyse This, hosts Arese Ugwu and Tunji Andrews talk about the effects of dollar scarcity in the Nigerian market and how it affects the average Nigerian.

The duo explained how the scarcity of dollars in the market was affecting petty traders and handymen, with Ugwu using the experience from her manicurist as an example.

They also touched on the inflationary pressure caused by the scarcity of the dollar and how the inflation rate in the country has ballooned to 12.8%.

The fuel scarcity issue also came up, with Arese explaining how the scarcity of dollars is affecting petroleum marketers and the resultant effect of that scarcity, in the price of day-to-day transportation.

Speaking on the causes of this dollar scarcity, Andrews said the problem arose from the drop in crude oil prices, which has curbed the CBN's ability to put enough dollars into the market. Ugwu explained further that the lack of diversification of the Nigerian economy also played a major role in causing the dollar scarcity.

The show took some views from everyday Nigerians before going on to discuss how the situation can be handled best.
