While discussing the advantages of social media in product promotion, the fashion expert highlighted that importance of having a strong product of good quality.
Fashion expert Kinvara Balfour recently spoke at the Access Conference 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Pulse Nigeria caught up with her at the conference to talk about how changes in innovation have affected the world of fashion. She spoke about how technology comes at an advantage to designers.
“Technology has allowed everybody to sell and PR and market their products so easily and not just to one society but to the whole world”, she said.
“It’s opened up all sorts of opportunities that businesses didn’t normally have”.
While discussing the advantages of social media in product promotion, she highlighted that importance of having a strong product of good quality.
“You can promote your product on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, you can spend thousands of dollars on building your own website, to showcase your wears, but if the product that you’re selling is not strong, then all of that e-infrastructure is completely pointless”.
Balfour advised small brands to work hard to stay on top of their game.
“It’s really hard work. You have to believe in what you are doing, you have to believe in yourself”, she said.
The style and culture connoisseur is the host of a series called “Fashion in Conversation” for Apple on iTunes.
She shared that from interviewing global designers and fashion influencers on her show including the likes of Tom Ford, Manolo Blahnik and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine America about how they stated and what advise they had, she said they all gave the same thing; “it’s just real hard work”.
In her interview with Pulse, she revealed how she’s able to predict future Fashion trends.
“I follow everything with passion”, she said. Adding that she observes catwalks, watches films and read magazine.
The Access Conference 2015 presented success stories from several industry leaders including Herbert Wigwe, CEO and Group Managing Director Access Bank, Founder LDA Couture, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi, Former President Costa Rica Jose-Maria Figueres, Creative Brand Strategist at Twitter Jonathan Henning, and several others.
