Former Deputy Governor of Adamawa state, Bala Ngilari has been sworn in as substantive governor of the state today, October 8.

This comes after a Federal High Court in Abuja declared his resignation null and void.

Ngilari was ousted when he supposedly resigned after the impeachment of his principal, former governor, Murtala Nyako.

However, the court declared today, that the purported resignation letter was invalid because it had been submitted to the State House of Assembly instead of Nyako, who was still governor at the time.

Ngilari was sworn in at Government House by the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Audu Lagre, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The new governor said while promising to run an all-inclusive government:

‘... I invite other arms of government, in particular the legislature and judiciary, not forgetting the civil service, to join hands with me to achieve these noble goals’.

‘As a party man and a team player, I pledge my unalloyed support and loyalty to our great party and Mr. President’.

‘We acknowledge the divine power of God in all that happened. The holy books of both religions subscribe to the fact that power belongs to God and He gives it in trust to whosoever He wills’.

Ngilari also appointed Chubado Tijjani as his Chief of Staff in a ceremony that was reportedly well attended by dignitaries.
