Wait, will anal sex make my butt bigger?
But anal sex might be a different story, specifically when it comes to questions like: Will anal sex make my butt bigger?
If you’ve been wondering this, you’re not alone. There are a number of comments and theories about this on message boards. But for some more... reliable information, women’s health expert Jessica Shepherd, M.D., founder of Her Viewpoint, has some answers.
The right answer to this actually depends on your definition of “butt,” Shepherd says. If you’re taking about your glutes (i.e. the muscles that round out your butt), then no, anal sex won't make your butt bigger. “There are various positions where you could have anal sex but they’re not really going to target the gluteal muscles and give them a workout,” Shepherd says.
But if your definition of “butt” = your anus (the opening that No.2 comes out of), then maybe. “There is potential that anal sex can make it bigger,” Shepherd says. Specifically, your sphincter, which is the ring of muscle that surrounds the anus, could be impacted, she says. Your sphincter could stretch out a bit if you have anal sex a lot, she says.
The main issue with that, per Shepherd: You could develop fecal incontinence, which is a fancy way of saying you might poop yourself. Still, that's extremely rare, and by most accounts, anal sex is totally safe. That's right: A little sphincter-stretching is probably NBD.
Okay, back to your glutes. There are a few things that can make your butt bigger-and none of them have anything to do with anal sex.
While your butt contains a lot of muscle, it also has fat-and gaining weight can plump up your booty a bit.
You can also do exercises that target your gluteal muscles, Shepherd says. That could mean doing lots of squats, leg presses, and certain yoga, pilates, and barre moves. (You can start with this butt workout Kim Kardashian swears by.)
So, yeah. If your goal is to get a bigger butt-whether you’re into anal or not-exercises are probably the best way to reach your goal…no matter what you might randomly read on the internet.
