Melania Trump, despite being the First Lady, is arguably one of the least visible members of the Trump family. She largely stayed away from the campaign trail during the 2016 election, only appearing at key events like the Republican National Convention and the presidential debates.
And she's appeared at few official events since the inauguration, even residing in New York City with her son Barron, instead of at the White House.
But on Monday, the White House released Melania's first official portrait as First Lady. The photograph, which features Melania in a plain black pussybow blouse and jacket (the "pussybow" being a style she had made headlines for in the fall, per Vanity Fair) and a stunning ring, was taken in "her new residence" in the White House, according to a statement.
"I am honored to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years," Melania said in the statement released with the photograph.
And while some fans online loved the new portrait, calling it "lovely" and "classy," others thought it was...well, interesting:
The portrait was added to her official bio on the White House website, which highlights her modeling career and charity work. According to the bio, Melania intends as First Lady to focus on "the problem of cyber bullying among our youth."
