Demi Lovato just debuted a new tattoo in honor of her late friend Thomas Trussell III. The "Confident" singer added a letter "T" tattoo to her forearm.
The simple tattoo has a greater meaning for Demi. She shared a photo of her new ink on Instagram along with two photos of Thomas, who died of a drug overdose recently. Demi had shared news of his passing with her fans and said she was "devastated."
Demi added in the caption: "A T for Tommy. RIP you special angel. Love you forever @sirtruss thank you for the ink @rafael_valdez.. its beautiful and Im so grateful for this ."
Following her friend's death, Demi urged her followers to get help if they or someone they know is struggling with addiction. "Addiction is NO joke," she wrote next to a photo of Thomas. "Heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. Im crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know its okay to ask for help."
Demi has experienced her own public battle with addiction . In June 2018, she revealed in the song "Sober" that she had relapsed after being sober for six years and spoke out about her near-fatal overdose not long after.
Demi wrote in an Instagram post (that was later removed): "I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting."
