Does it cost more to be a bridesmaid than a groomsman?
Ladies are very particular about details when it comes to their big day, from colours of the day, to the kind of fabric and style that should be used by their bridesmaid.
Though the prices might vary but on the average, the dress would cost at least 30,000 naira, a new pair of shoe cost about 15,000 naira, a new weave for about 15,000, a new purse for about 6,000 naira, planning the bridal shower would require about 20,000 naira per bridesmaid, buying the couple a gift would cost about 30,000 naira, make-up on the wedding day would cost about 20,000 naira, and other miscellaneous including transportation [within the same state] and other needs would be another 14,000 naira.
In total each bridesmaid would be spending the average total of about 150,000 naira to make appearance at the bride’s day.
In Nigeria, the groomsmen on the other hand can do away with some of these costs. They definitely won’t be needing a makeover, new purse or shoe and maybe a new suit [especially if the groom is not choosing outside the norm colours like black and grey]

On the average, a groomsman spends about 20,000 naira on a bow or tie and cufflinks, a white shirt and a nicely tailored suit [which they most likely already have] for about 40,000 naira, bachelor’s party 15,000 naira, and other miscellaneous 10,000 naira.
In total, a groomsman would spend an average total of 85,000 naira.
We think the question of who spends more when it comes to weddings should never be argued as evidently women spend more.
