Couple hold wedding in labour room, few hours before daughter's birth (PHOTOS)

Tallent and Nese, who both believed it to be important to get married before their daughter was born, were wed just hours before baby Sophia arrived

An eight months pregnant woman and her fiancé tied the knot in the labour room of a hospital, hours before she was due to give birth.

Luckily for Stephanie Tallent and Jason Nese, they had both obtained their marriage license the day before she went into labour.

Tallent was and having an ultrasound Friday when she went into labor at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women in Houston.

Nese then ran to fetch the license from his car, along with a white sun dress Tallent meant to send to the cleaners. A chaplain was called and a party of doctors, nurses and clinic staff rounded up for the wedding.

After the ceremony, Tallent was prepped for a cesarean section. Daughter Sophia arrived a few hours later at 6 pounds 3 ounces.

'We had talked about it (being) important to us to get married before she was born,' Tallent told the Houston Chronicle, so the couple, who met as teenagers but began dating much later, did just that.

According to Daily Mail, Dr Karla Wagner called the hospital chaplain, Rev Johnna Faber, to the room immediately while staff gathered roses for the ceremony.

Wagner walked Tallent, a finance director, down the aisle to an assessment room, where the wedding took place, while a nurse played The Wedding March from her cellphone, according to ABC 13.

Tallent was loaned a necklace from a member of staff as her 'something borrowed' and a blue ribbon was added to her bouquet.

Nese, a construction salesman, asked what he was thinking about during the ceremony, told the Chronicle: 'Honestly, I was thinking they have one extremely efficient staff. They mobilize troops faster than the military can.'

Both the bride and groom said that it was the happiest day of their lives.

'It's a spectacular day, absolutely amazing,' Nese said Friday.

Tallent and Sophia were discharged from the hospital on Monday.
