The secret to a successful long distance relationship

Most relationships have ended because a partner lives or works very far. Here is how you can make it work.

Long distance relationships can be stressful. Some people dread the thought of their partner staying far from them.

Most relationships have ended as a result of the inability of one partner to cope with the emotional stress.

Be disciplined and committed: Discipline and commitment is the bedrock of every successful relationship, especially, when it is long distance. You have to discipline yourself to stick to the commitments you have made to your partner.

Use Pictures: Surround yourself with favourite pictures of your partner in your office, wallet etc. It creates a happy ambience and a feeling that your partner is with you. You can also exchange pictures regularly.

Use technology: Thank God for the various social media platforms available, you will always be in touch.

Use time well: When communicating with each other, you have to have a specific time in mind. Always call or chat during that time. Unconsciously, what it does is that it creates in your partner, a remembrance. Let’s say you call by 5pm everyday. By 5pm his/her system has been regulated that he or she is waiting to hear from you.

Exchange visits whenever there is an opportunity: Always make effort to see your partner physically during holidays etc. For some, it could be difficult to travel, but you can have your partner come over.

Discuss any trust issues that might arise: If you are having fears and doubts, share it with your partner, and when they explain, take them for their word.
