Army couple reschedule their wedding for Obama's golf game in Hawaii

A pair of Army captains had to move their wedding ceremony so that President Obama could play golf at the venue during his vacation.

A couple planning their wedding at a Hawaii golf course hit an unexpected bump when they were asked to move the ceremony to the day before — so that the leader of the free world could play through.

According to Bloomberg, Army captain, Natalie Heimel and her fiancé, Edward Mallue Jr., were just leaving their wedding rehearsal at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Marine Corps Base Hawaii, when they received the request to relocate the next day's events to another part of the course to accommodate President Obama's golf game.

The request came just hours after the couple had received a letter from the president apologizing for not being able to attend the wedding. Knowing that Obama frequents the golf course during his holiday vacations in Hawaii, the couple had somewhat jokingly sent him an invitation, Mallue's sister, Jamie McCarthy, told Bloomberg.

"It was emotional, especially for her — she's the bride, and in less than 24 hours they had to change everything they had planned," she said.

Naile Brennan, a local wedding organizer, told Bloomberg that couples are warned about potential last-minute changes anytime the President is in town. Brennan also said the couple was able to transfer the event to a new site without a hitch, and the new venue was nicer and more secluded than the original.

After Bloomberg asked the White House press office about the change of plans, McCarthy said the Commander in Chief had made a personal call to the newlyweds to congratulate them and apologize for the added stress. "We were all there, it was perfect," she said. "Made their day."
