"She bought me meat pie and rice" - Veteran actor narrates how he met and married his wife

The couple who have been together for 40 years were featured on Tunde Kelani TV, owned by veteran cinematographer Tunde Kelani, where they narrated their love story.

Oga Bello and Alhaja Ejide revealed they first met at Ansar-Ud-Deen primary school, Oke-Popo, Amuto, Lagos Island. The couple as young children had their differences and disliked each other for it. Salami even tried to beat up his wife in school!

“We both went to the same primary school, His shakara was too much then and I didn't like that. I never liked him, and he always tried to beat me. I always reported him to his parents until the day his father chased me". At the end of the day we became friends”, Alhaja Ejide told Tunde Kelani TV.

The veteran actor said they settled whatever scores they had, the day his wife bought him food.

“We became friends after she bought me meat pie and rice. And we began to date. We loved each other so much from 1966 till we got married in 1975. She joined me in fetching water back then when we were kids. She helped a lot”, Oga Bello said.

The couple who were always seen together as youngsters said their friendship continued even when they went to secondary school. They began dating afterwards.

“I liked him so much even the whole community knew that. We were always together.  When we left for secondary school, he wrote me letters and I replied. Because he liked acting, I liked it too. I also accepted his colleagues into my home. I endured with him because I like him”, the veteran actor’s wife said.
