While planning your wedding, you will definitely have a lot of people, family and friends included, who will feel the need to pressurize to follow wedding traditions or include certain 'must haves.'

However, you do not need them as the important thing is that you are getting married to the love of your life.

The following are six you can skip.

  1. A wedding planner- These days, you can find everything you need to know on the Internet for free.

  2. A white wedding dress- You are allowed to be unconventional so pick whatever colour suits you.

  3. An expensive dress- While it is important to look your best for your wedding, you do not have to spend thousands of naira in order to do that. Besides, wearing an expensive dress does not mean you will have a happy marriage.

  4. A wedding party- Having to choose bridesmaids, groomsmen, a maid of honor, a best man, a ring bearer, flower girl, can be very exhausting and might make others feel left out if you exclude them, so you can skip this, and just have a room full of lots of well wishers.

  5. A wedding website- This is becoming very popular in Nigeria but it is absolutely not necessary, anyone coming for your wedding should already know enough about you.

  6. A Bridal Shower or bachelor/ette parties- There is no law that says you have to have one besides not having these parties will not make your wedding any less special or your marriage any less valid. However, if someone in your life wants to throw one of these for you or surprises you with one, then enjoy yourself and be genuinely appreciative.

The above are things you can skip if you want, the important thing is to do exactly what you want to do in order to have your special day.
