My girlfriend lied to me about being a virgin

I don't know what to do because I value trust, honesty and love in a relationship.

Dear Bukky,

I'm 23 years old. I have a girlfriend who lied to me on the very first day about being a virgin... I love her so much and I don't want to leave.

I don't know what to do because I value trust, honesty and love in a relationship. I'm really hurt and feel bad.  What should I do???______________

Dear reader,

A second chance. I think that’s what you need to give her.

Take into consideration the fact that you still love her so much and do not want to see her leave. I think that’s enough reason to try again, to give her one more opportunity to show that that was an anomaly rather than a norm.

I know how terrible you must feel, having been deceived; and I have an idea how worried you’d be right now that maybe the lying will become a pattern that won’t stop no matter how many chances you give her.

But here’s one thing I need you to know; if all relationships ended after one partner significantly faults the other or breaches a trust, there’d probably be no one in a relationship right now.

Sit her down and tell her how much premium you place on honesty in relationships. Tell her you love her so much but dishonesty would quickly dim that love.

If she values what you have and if she appreciates this forgiveness and the clean slate you are offering her, I think she’d know better than to ever lie to you again.

In any case, I wish you the best in the relationship._________________Do you want to talk about your love life, marriage or family issues?
