Mindy Weiss is a go-to wedding consultant of celebrity couples in Hollywood. The Beverly Hills-based event planning pro is arguably one of the biggest names in the wedding business.

To her credit, Weiss has planned nuptial ceremonies for celebs like Fergie, Nicole Richie, Ellen DeGeneres, Gwen Stefani, to mention a few.

The celebrity wedding planner shares some useful tips to help brides-to-be create the ideal wedding for this season:

  • Use saturated colours: Weiss loves a mix of saturated colours like hot pink, orange, blush, and purple for spring and summer weddings. She has also designed weddings with white and green colour palates, nd ombrés in pretty watercolour hues.

  • Popular wedding trends include outdoor décor and Asian-inspired accents: Weiss says one of the top wedding trends for this season is bringing the outdoors in and vice versa. To achieve this, she uses greens and trees inside a venue and grouping furniture on grassy areas. Weiss also loves Asian-inspired accents like vases and props. For centerpieces, she says trends include using short floral centerpieces and clustering a group of colours.

  • Be mindful of your social media-loving guests: To incorporate social media into your wedding celebration, Weiss says: "We usually place their hashtag in a frame by the bar. Your friends can all post to Instagram and go back to one place to locate all photos." And to ensure guests are capturing it all, she recommends setting up a phone-charging station at the reception.

  • Start your day well: To reduce the stress levels on the wedding day, Weiss recommends taking a few minutes in the morning to center yourself. "When you wake up on your wedding day, take a deep breath and commit to enjoying the moments," she says. "Whatever is going to happen will work out. I promise the more relaxed you are, your family and friends will feel it, too."

  • Personalize your wedding: According to Weiss, personalizing a wedding is to inject the couple's personality into the ceremony, using special touches like serving a favourite family recipe or including special mementos into the party. "I just had a bride who bought every napkin for the wedding from different journeys that [they] had been on — made [for] a great story!"

  • Think about family and friends when planning a destination wedding: Weiss says the major tip when planning a destination wedding is to keep your loved ones in mind during the planning process. "Give them plenty of time to buy tickets and book rooms by sending out a Save the Date six to seven months ahead of the wedding date," she says.

  • Use Pinterest and wedding planning books: "Pinterest is brilliant," Weiss says. She also recommends using her books, The Big Book For Your Big Day and The Ultimate Wedding Organizer, to make the planning process easy.
