The suspect, 30-yr-old Aaron Ackah, was arrested on Saturday, April 2, at the Aldersgate Methodist Church while exchanging rings with his bride in the presence of an officiating minister
The groom was allegedly accused of robbing a small scale Chinese miner of ¢18,000 and inflicting knife wounds on the victim's left hand, Ghana Web reports.
The police who had reportedly discovered his identity by getting hold of one of the groom's wedding invitation cards.
It was gathered that the couple had just finished exchanging vows and the minister was about to bless the rings when who policemen in plain clothes gained entrance into the church and took the groom away.
His bride, identified as Rebecca Buah had reportedly collapsed after the arrest.
Police Commander for Prestea Hunivalley, Timothy Dassah, told reporters that Ackah had pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
'The suspect has been remanded in police custody till the next court hearing', Superintendent Dassah said.
