If you never believed in real love, or lasting romance, then you really might want to click here and read the story of what things looked like at the beginning of the union.
I have read the anniversary post by Mike Bamiloye, and of course found some relationship lessons from the love story he and Gloria have been writing for 28 years, which I will now share below.
Some of these lessons are not necessarily new, Mike and Gloria Bamiloye’s story just made my belief in them stronger than ever.
Did you know Mike was 25 and Gloria 21 when they married? Well, guys, that’s one lesson: you do not need to wait till you are 35 and with millions in the bank before you settle down. [I am talking to myself too,]
Reading that this couple has been together for this long also cements my belief in what I’ve always known - true love stands the test of time.
I mean, 28 years no be beans, abeg.
As much as these are valid points, they did not really hit me hard as what I am about to point out now.
Ladies, you need to take a chance with the man you love!
See, money and financial gain should never be the determinant of your love. You’ve heard this before, and it still rings true till this day.
You need to take a chance with that guy you love.
Yes, you know that guy - the one with big dreams, endless potential and a capacity to ceaselessly work hard to realise those dreams.
Mike Bamiloye says he had no money on him shortly before his wedding in 1988 because he had spent it all on the movie-making vision he had.
In his words, “We both went to Ilesha registry to file for the Marriage Certificate when it was two months to our wedding, but we did not have the money to pay for the registration.
“We were to pay about N120, or so, but we did not have the money. So we told the registry we would come back and we never went back, because we did not have the money.”
Of course, we all know how that story went.
Mike, alongside Gloria, of course, became a pioneer in the field of gospel-movie-production and surely they remain the biggest and topmost in the game till date with their Mount Zion Faith Ministries.
This points to the idea that if you are a real lady as you say you are, you should not be scared or unwilling to go through the growth process with a man.
Just as there is a kind of pride in watching your child grow, so, too, is there a pride in being there with a man, assisting and encouraging him in his growth from an employee to an emperor of his own world.
Surely that’s exactly what Gloria Bamiloye has been to Mike all along, prompting him to write,
“Happy anniversary to us and celebrate... Gloria Bamiloye, a woman who married a man who had nothing but faith... raw faith...”
So, ladies, if you truly love a man, do not let the present gloomy financial situation put you off.
Take a chance on him. Take a chance with him.
Instead of ditching him for a bozo with deep pockets and little else, take a leap of faith with that your boyfriend/fiancée, and together, you can both build an empire!
