Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Remove a Lipoma Under a Woman's Arm Tattoo

In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper extracts a lipoma from underneath a patient's forearm tattoo. Lipomas are very common, slow-growing fatty lumps that grow between skin and muscle. They're generally benign and non-cancerous, and therefore relatively harmless.

Dr. Pimple Popper Removes a Lipoma Under a Tattoo

In her latest Instagram video , Dr. Pimple Popper -aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD-helps a woman extract a giant lipoma lurking underneath her fresh forearm ink.

Lipomas, for those who may need a refresher, are basically just skin lumps-slow-growing, fatty masses that lurk between the skin and the underlying layer of muscle, according to the Mayo Clinic . Generally speaking, they're small-less than two inches in diameter-and don't always need to be treated unless they suddenly grow in size.

As for where lipomas come from, the causes are still being explored-some evidence suggests there may be genetic links , as they're known to occur more often in people with Gardner's syndrome and Cowden syndrome, according to MedicalNewsToday. There does not appear to be any evidence of a link between tattoos or other cosmetic skin procedures triggering the onset of lipomas.

Thankfully for this patient, Dr. Lee keeps the incision relatively small-the post-procedure stitches show her tattoo is going to live on just fine-and quickly removes the lipoma with a good, clean pop.

As satisfying as those pops may look in Dr. Pimple Popper's videos, however, it's best not to try it yourself if you spot one. If you can't ignore it any longer, leave the popping in the hands of a professional.
