• Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will be reuniting for a Disney+ series centered on their Captain America characters.
  • A new poster revealed a major makeover for Bucky/The Winter Soldier.
  • You'll be able to watch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in Fall 2020.

Since his re-introduction as The Winter Soldier in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes has more or less looked the same. Long hair, stubbly beard, and, of course, his dynamic metal arm. But in the first poster for Disney+'s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series, it looks like Bucky got a pretty significant makeover.

While the series other titular character is definitely due for a makeover (one involving a shield, if you catch our drift), it's Bucky who looks different in the show's first poster. With his hair cut and beard trimmed, his new look is almost unrecognizable from the character we've seen recently in Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and even a brief cameo in Black Panther.

Actually, Stan's new appearance is quite similar to how he looked when we first met the character, way back in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, when Bucky was just a WWII soldier alongside his pal, Steve.

In past poster experiences, Marvel has made a habit of featuring that weaponized metal arm front and centerthe signature takeaway from his time under HYDRA's spell. Could the shift in appearance, combined with the haircut and shave, symbolize that the brainwashed Winter Soldier is gone for good, and that Bucky is all the way back?

We last saw this duo at the end of Avengers: Endgame, when Sam had just been passed the shield from a now-old and deeply-time traveled Steve Rogers/Captain Americasomething that Bucky knew was going to happen. The series, presumably, will deal with the aftermath of that moment. (Stan has been prepping for his eighth turn as the character by putting in quite a bit of gym time .) Captain America veterans Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) and Daniel Bruhl (Civil War villain Baron Zemo) will also be returning for the series.

Disney+ will launch for the very first time on November 12th, led by titles like MCU alum Jon Favreau's Star Wars series The Mandalorian , and a pair of other projects featuring MCU talent: a live-action Lady and the Tramp movie with Justin Theroux and Tessa Thompson, and a travel series called The World According to Jeff Goldblum. With The Falcon and The Winter Soldier due about a year later, Disney+ is looking promising.
