This dating app forces its users to actually call each other

Millions of Tinder matches in the world, but no true love - that’s the conundrum of modern dating.

Online dating

We’ve streamlined the process so much that verbalizing our thoughts about another person seems like a pretty serious commitment.

But Hotline, a new dating app that launched on Monday, aims to change that by making you actually pick up the phone and talk into it. Because you can’t just vocalize the emojis you would have sent.

Hotline does have a messaging function, but it’s only enabled once you call the user you’re trying to court, which means late night booty calls are pretty much out of the question unless you’re that smooth-tongued.

And so are endless matches; Hotline only allows three matches, to be exact, which is designed to foster more intimate communication between users.

We haven’t tried it yet (it’s only available in New York for now), and it does cost $9 per month to use, so we’ll stay tuned to see if Hotline is a viable replacement for Tinder and Bumble users who are sick of the dating app hookup culture.

For now, start working on that phone voice - because you know you haven't used that thing since at least 2010.
