Cayla Chandara was working at Noi Thai Cuisine last week when two visiting Australians came into the restaurant and were seated at one of her tables. She quickly hit it off with the patrons, chatting with them throughout the evening. The three of them became so close that Chandara even revealed to them that she was struggling with lingering student loan debts and 80-hour work weeks.

So, in a touching gesture, she was eventually left with a $400 tip on their $200 bill at the end of the night. On its own, that's incredible, right? A 200 percent tip is quite the financial windfall for a bill that big, and Chandara knew it.

To thank the couple, she visited the hotel where they had told her they were staying, bearing a thank you note and flowers; she also had desserts delivered to their room. Clearly, they appreciated the gifts, because the next day they told Chandara that they were going to pay off the $10,000 in student loan debts that had been preventing her from returning to school to study business.

Though she initially declined the offer—perhaps out of shock more than anything—she eventually ended up accepting.

Chandara said that she plans to stay in touch with the couple, and that they will be attending her next graduation. Watch her tell the full story below.
