Iron Man Gets to Meet His Adult Daughter in Emotional Deleted Scene from 'Endgame'

It's been months and Avengers: Endgame still isn't done hurting our feelings. The movie is now available to view on the new Disney+ streaming platform , complete with some never-before-seen deleted footage. We've already heard plenty about some of the scenes that didn't make it into Endgame, from a gory moment involving mashed potatoes to the entire extended Avengers line-up taking a knee to honor Tony Stark. But this latest cut of the movie goes straight for the heart.

Iron Man Met Adult Daughter in Cut 'Endgame' Scene

In this version of Endgame, Tony Stark still suffers life-ending injuries after donning the newly reformed Infinity Gauntlet and undoing The Snap, bringing back all of our fallen heroes and dusting Thanos' armies. But what follows is an emotional scene in which Stark travels to a surreal, limbo-like space called the Way Station. This is where we saw Thanos communing with a younger version of Gamora at the end of Infinity War. According to director Anthony Russo, the Way Station is where you go to "confront or reconcile something that's unresolved in yourself, in your soul."

In Stark's case, that unfinished business involves his daughter, Morgan.

"I'm scared I made a mistake," he tells her in the newly released scene, to which she replies: "I know. And I know it's going to be tough for you to let go, but if someone had to do that so the rest of us could [live]... I'm proud of you. I'm strong, like mom. And I'm happy. I'm happy that we had the time that we did and that you were there for me... until you couldn't be."

The touching scene ends with them both bidding each other farewell with their now-familiar father-daughter signoff: "I love you 3,000."

Prior to the movie's release, it was confirmed that Australian actress Katherine Langford (best known for Netflix's teen drama 13 Reasons Why ) had been cast in an undisclosed role, prompting speculation among the fans that she would be playing a future version of Stark's daughter. This rumor, it turns out, was 100 per cent true: Morgan Stark, who is four years old during the events of Endgame, is played by Langford in the dreamlike sequence.

Marvel fans who don't have Disney+ won't be able to see Langford's performance in the regular home release of the movie, although the character of Morgan may well return at some point in the future of the MCU. In the meantime, Langford can be seen next alongside Captain America himself, Chris Evans , in Rian Johnson's upcoming murder mystery Knives Out.
