Instagram is completely crushing Snapchat right now

Instagram stories is crushing Snapchat.

In the battle of social media supremacy, things are starting to take a turn for the worse over at Snapchat. As Mashable reports, Instagram Stories—the Snapchat-like feature on Instagram that was rolled out in August of 2016—now has more daily active users than Snapchat. According to Instagram, over 200 million people now use the feature per day. Last month, Snapchat announced that their daily active user base was comprised of just 161 million people.

In a matter of months, Instagram's new initiative has managed to surpass its main competitor, despite the fact that it has been widely recognized as a Snapchat clone. Apparently, the ease of having two apps in one has been a draw for many would-be Snapchatters. And, unfortunately for the company, things may only go further south. In conjunction with Instagram's announcement to celebrate the user milestone, they also unveiled a new line of features set to debut on Stories: geostickers, sticker pinning, and selfie stickers.

If they sound familiar, it's because these are things you already have had with Snapchat. However, for someone who would rather streamline their social media presence than deal with two separate accounts, Instagram's aping is certainly convenient. Could this spell the beginning of the end for Snapchat? Either way, it appears that their future as the go-to social media story app is considerably less bright.
