Why you should use the ‘AMRAP’ mentality outside the gym

You don't win the CrossFit games or build a thriving international business without a crazy work ethic and a winning mindset.

CrossFit fitness trainer, Jason Khalipa.

Jason Khalipa is a family man, businessman, and CrossFit athlete living in Los Gatos, CA. For the past 10 years Jason has been blazing a trail both athletically and in the business realm. From his humble beginnings behind the sales desk of a globo-gym, Jason has emerged as one of the leaders in the fitness industry, as well as one of the top athletes in CrossFit world.

While his competitive CrossFit career may be in its twilight, Jason is firing on all cylinders when it comes to his two other passions: his family and his business, NC Fit.

You don't win the CrossFit games or build a thriving international business without a crazy work ethic and a winning mindset. Jason calls it "The AMRAP Mentality" and it's guided him through his entire career, inside and outside the gym.

AMRAP stands for As Many Reps As Possible or As Many Rounds As Possible and it's a staple in CrossFit WODs. But for Jason it's a hell of a lot more than just a workout template—it's the concept of doing the best you can and putting forth maximum effort with everything that you do.

For example, Jason's beautiful daughter Ava has been battling leukemia over the last year. But somehow Jason and his family have turned this tragedy into a positive. "Our family has actually never been closer and it's really taught me about what's truly important in life," says Jason. "And we've raised a lot of money for pediatric cancer to help kids like my daughter fight this disease." That, in essence, is the AMRAP mentality.

Other topics covered in this episode include:

  • Winning the second ever CrossFit games
  • How the CrossFit games have evolved over the years
  • What Jason's weekly workouts look like
  • Building an international fitness business
  • And much more!
